The picture on the right shows proud representatives of PSFC, Howard Knight, Manager U7, and Chris Barker- Moore, U7 coach and kit manager receiving our Charter Standard award at Southend’s home game against Barnsley earlier this season.
Howard, who was the driving force in getting our club the award for this season said “Chris and myself had a great afternoon and were treated very well indeed with great hospitality and courtesy. It was a real privilege to have been able to attend on behalf of PSFC”.
The FA Charter Standard programme was launched in February 2001 with the aim of setting minimum standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs.
The project is at the heart of the Football Association’s investment programme for grassroots football that will see £32 million spent this year to improve facilities and coaching across the country.
Many grants and funding opportunities provided by the FA and the Football Foundation are only available to clubs who have gained, or are working toward, Charter Standard.
The Charter Standard aims to…
- Provide a nationally recognised quality control ‘Kitemark’
- Improve the quality of provision for everyone
- Sustain participation for players for a longer time
- Raise standards
To be awarded the Charter Standard, Perry Street had to meet the following criteria
- A Written Constitution
- Child Protection Self-Certification of Managers and officials
- Manager to have a minimum F.A. level 1 coaches certificate
- Commitment to attend in-service Training
- Acceptance and promotion of codes of conduct
- Run a minimum of 5 teams (Perry St run nearly 20!)
Special thanks to Howard Knight for all his efforts to achieve this. |
